Horizon Structures was founded by David Cook in 2014 and aims to provide a high quality, friendly engineering services to all sectors, including education, residential, retail, commercial, industrial, healthcare, and leisure. Our Head Office is in Norfolk, with an additional office in Cambridge, enabling us to provide engineering services to architects, contractors, property managers, agents and owners and other construction professionals across the East of England and East Anglia.
David has more than 25 years experience in the engineering industry, having graduated from Coventry (Lancaster) Polytechnic in 1987. He went on to join a graduate training scheme working on multi million pound projects in both the UK and the Middle East. Since then, he has successfully run the engineering departments for two consultancy practices in Norwich, before establishing Horizon Structures in 2014.
David is also a FICE (Fellow of the Institute of Civil Engineers), the highest and most senior grade of ICE membership - reserved for senior civil engineers who have made a significant contribution to the profession or have advanced the practice of engineering.
His areas of expertise include civil engineering design, structural engineering design, historical structures and environmentally friendly structures.
Outside work, David is a RNLI crew member of the Aldeburgh Lifeboat in Suffolk and participates in adventure pursuits, including a recent expedition to climb a Himalayan mountain rated as one of the highest 100 mountains in the world.
Marc graduated from Coventry University in 2010, having successfully attained both his BEng (Hons) in Civil and Structural Engineering and MEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering. During his studies, Marc worked on a variety of bridge projects within a local government design office in Warwickshire. This experience is supplemented by a solid construction background attained from an early age. Since graduating, Marc has worked in consultancies based in his home county of Norfolk.
Marc successfully passed his Professional Examination and became an Associate Member of the IStructE in 2013 and is currently progressing towards Chartered Engineer status. Marc's passion and drive for perfection make him a meticulous engineer, which is clear to those who experience his professional attitude and methodical approach to design. Marc is focused on providing the optimum design for every client's specification, working alongside other industry professionals to ensure our clients get the best possible solution.
Outside of work, Marc enjoys scuba diving, archery and geocaching.
