Lidl, Felixstowenew bespoke store

Project Details

Client: Mitnija
Services: Structural Engineering

Project Description

Lidl wanted to construct a new, bespoke store on the outskirts of Felixstowe to improve their foothold in East Anglia.

The site was situated on poor gravel adjacent to the Port, with limited surface water outfall capacity. The contractor was given a very tight construction programme to finish the store, adding to the challenge of this project.

The store was designed to be supported off piled foundations with an integral ground beam and slab arrangement to speed up construction and allow the store to open as scheduled.

In addition to the structure, surface water modelling was used to reduce the attenuation storage volume to a minimum whilst maintaining a flood free site.
