The client’s proposal was to develop a community sports facility on a new site. The proposal consisted of a new 2 storey club house containing changing rooms and rehab gymnasium together with a function room and bar catering for up to 200 guests. The clubhouse services pitches catering from U6 to veteran rugby and includes the first 3G rugby pitch in Norfolk.
The building comprises a steel framed first floor structure with timber infill panels create the large open spaces for the function room and covered terrace. The frame also facilitates an atrium with an unobstructed entrance lobby by hanging the first floor from roof level. The steel frame bears onto a cast in-situ reinforced concrete transfer flab which distributes the concentrated loads onto load bearing masonry walls below.
